Old First Church (1762), Bennington, Vermont

The plaque outside reads as follows:

“First church in Vermont dedicated to separation of church and state. Congregation founded by those seeking religious freedom. Vermont’s legislature designated this church ‘Vermont’s colonial shrine;’ adjacent acre ‘Vermont’s sacred acre.’”

Among many other luminaries buried in the cemetery, I found Robert Frost’s grave.
