The small museum at the Crocodile Pool features interesting exhibits on (among other things) fertility rituals, circumcision rituals (both male and female), masks, amulets, traditional musical instruments, and the participation of Gambians in WWII.
Kachikally Crocodile Pool, Bakau, The Gambia. This sacred crocodile pool, home to around 100 crocodiles, dates back to the 17th century. Gambian women struggling with infertility still come to pray and wash here, although it’s a bit of a tourist trap now.
