The southeast Alberta town of Medicine Hat has an interesting history as a railway and natural gas hub that also has a long-standing Blackfoot community (“Medicine Hat” seems to be an English interpretation of the Blackfoot word for the eagle feather headdress traditionally worn by medicine men).
